Protect Yourself This Winter

We are pleased to offer the NHS Autumn 2026/27 Flu and COVID-19 vaccination programme to help protect eligible patients from serious illness during the winter months.

Vaccination remains the best way to reduce your risk of severe illness, hospitalisation, and complications from flu and COVID-19. We strongly encourage all eligible patients to take up this important offer.

Who Can Have a Free NHS Flu Vaccination?

Eligible groups include:

  • Pregnant women
  • Children aged 2 and 3 years (on 31 August 2026)
  • Primary and secondary school-aged children

Who Can Have a COVID-19 Vaccination?

The Autumn 2026 COVID-19 vaccination is available to:

  • Adults aged 75 years and over
  • Residents in care homes for older adults
  • People aged 6 months and over who have a weakened immune system due to a health condition or treatment

Appointments for the autumn COVID-19 programme will begin from 1 October 2026.

Can I Have Both Vaccinations Together?

Yes. If you are eligible for both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines, you may be offered them at the same appointment where clinically appropriate. Having both vaccines is safe and convenient.

Why Get Vaccinated?

Vaccination helps to:

  • Protect you from serious illness and complications
  • Reduce your risk of hospital admission
  • Protect your family, friends, and community
  • Help reduce pressure on NHS services during winter

Even if you have had flu or COVID-19 vaccines before, protection decreases over time and new vaccine formulations are designed to improve protection against circulating strains.
